Update on my diet:
I lasted a good 5 days eating only fruits and vegetables and then over the weekend I went to a retreat and gave in to carbs while cooking for 45 people. I'm still eating healthy, relying on huge fuji apples and baggies of carrots to keep me full throughout the day. And I haven't touched a single fry yet. But while spending a weekend with my fellow asian Chinese brethren, I discovered these:
I don't know what they're called but they are green onion flour pancakes cooked till crisp and brown. Apparently everyone eats them. I will too once I find a Ranch 99 near school.
Food tastes so good when you don't eat normally for 5 days.
Last night I went home and my mom and I had dinner at our favorite place in Gardena, Azuma on Western and 162nd. If you ever get udon always order the Nabeyaki Udon, it comes in its own iron pot served with melted mochi and shrimp tempura. My mom also ordered Ika Shio yaki which is a grilled squid w/ginger and lemon. I love anything grilled or bbqed. I just love the taste of burnt.
A bit on the retreat I went to:
I went with my dboat team we stayed at a lakehouse we rented in Mojave. It was short but much needed. One thing that definitely was NOT relaxing was our attempt at the Human Knot- all 40 of us.

At one point a major part of the knot was the ground and we were crushing each other, moaning and groaning. But the point was not to quit. And we didn't quit for THREE AND HALF HOURS. And it felt like 3.5 hours too. Time didn't fly by because we were hurting bad. The exercise was so meaningful to us though. Being part of a team is a humbling experience.
Encouragement cups.
Winter Quarter at UCLA ends in exactly 2 weeks.
10th and finals week means more running and less coffee. Coffee does me body bad.
Last night I ran 3 miles and was able to stay up till 4am catching up on lectures, given I had gotten 10 hours of sleep the night before.
My goal in these next two weeks is to be faithful in the little things.
